To celebrate its 75th anniversary, the Festival d'Aix published a special issue of the magazine L'Avant-Scène Opéra in 2023.
It traces its history and gives a wide audience an insight into the behind-the-scenes workings of this unmissable opera event since its creation in 1948.With numerous contributions from specialists, the issue traces the diversity of the Festival's repertoire: Mozart, works from the Baroque repertoire, but also opera and contemporary music, not to mention the place given to the rarest works of bel canto. The book also looks back at the careers of all the artists, orchestras, and personalities who have shaped the institution. Finally, it explores the specific characteristics of the Festival, describes how the teams work throughout the year in Aix-en-Provence, and thus retraces part of the history of music in the 20th and 21st centuries.
